Himilo ICT delivered a practical website administration training session to selected team members of the Somali Regional State Mines, Energy and Petroleum Bureau on September 24, 2026.
The training was conducted by Himilo ICT General Manager, Mr. Abdikadir Mohammed, as part of the final implementation and handover process for the Bureau’s newly modernized official website.
The session was designed to equip the designated administrators with the knowledge and practical skills required to manage, update and maintain the website independently.
Participants received hands-on instruction on securely accessing the WordPress dashboard, understanding user roles and permissions, creating and managing user accounts, updating profile information and protecting administrative login credentials.
The training also covered the correct procedures for creating and publishing official news, selecting appropriate categories, adding featured images, managing media files and updating existing website content.
Special attention was given to content quality and institutional publishing procedures. Participants were advised to publish verified information related to the Bureau’s official activities and to ensure that all content is reviewed before being made publicly available.
The team was also introduced to essential website security and maintenance practices, including the use of secure browsers, password protection, cache management, backup procedures and basic troubleshooting methods.
Practical guidance was provided on identifying common connectivity, DNS and browser-cache issues that may affect access to the website or prevent recently published content from appearing immediately.
By the end of the session, the participants were able to access the administration dashboard, create and update content, manage images and perform essential website-management tasks under the established publishing procedures.
The training represents an important step in ensuring that the Bureau has the internal capacity required to operate its official website effectively, securely and sustainably.
